Searching the web during my research to learn more and more about the ignition cable and in particular about the copper ignition cable we talked about in the previous article, I came across an article entitled “The ignition wire specialists: tinned copper cable”.
I was immediately struck by the precision with which he treats the topic of tinned frog candle hollow and the accuracy to detail. I do not deny you that this article has opened a world to me.
The article tells us truly spectacular things from a technical point of view about this ignition cable and also tells us about an Italian company, Brecav, which produces them and which uses every knowledge, every trend and every knowledge to produce ignition cable of highest quality.
By reading the article carefully, it is clear how serious and competent there is in the manufacture of this type of spark plug cable, first of all because this product complies with very specific standards and meets certain requirements such as “SAE J2031 – ISO 3808 – VDE079 – J557, cable high voltage ignition of class E type 1. The cable is equivalent to the characteristics of the original system and consequently respects the dictates of the Ber“, then because it is an ignition cable that has a very great resistance to thermal excursions; in fact it resists a thermal shock that oscillates from -40 degrees Centigrade to + 220 degrees Centigrade. The conductor is, as a rule, an 18 gauge and an excellent tinned copper ignition cable should be “composed of 19 tinned copper wires” moreover “the presence of tin extends the life of the conductor protecting it from continuous passage of current”.
Naturally, the copper ignition cable must also be provided with an outer jacket that serves as a protection. The identification of the material for the coating was traced to the silicone rubber which is in turn applied to a fiberglass braid. Note, scrolling through the text of the article, that “the diameter of the finished cable will be 7 + 0.25MM. Upholstery color and optional printing will be as specified by the customer. The purpose of the coating is to provide the cable with the thermal resistance and resistance to chemicals commonly found in the engine compartment“.
